Patternmaking
Mid 14th century arming cote made based on the extant Charles de Blois pourpoint (ca 1365) and various surviving late medieval textual sources including Hasting MS. (f122b). Shell and inner reinforcement are made of fustian with wool batting using in various thicknesses. The whole is lined with sateen.
Pourpoint based on the Charles de Blois pourpoint (circa 1365). Four layers of fustian, three layers of bamboo rayon batting. Quilted with handsewn seams.
Bodice sewn and decorated for USC’s 2024 production of Broken Shells. Shells were applied after construction using glue.
